The girls did amazingly well on the second day of testing. The both wore shirts and jeans, winter coats and boots (and Brooke had an extremely heavy water logged diaper!). As heavy as they were, they were really quite buoyant, but their center of gravity was the challenge! The purpose of the class is to teach them to self rescue if they were to ever fall in water. It's great they can swim but it's comforting, knowing they have the skills to save themselves if they were to ever have an accident. The class teaches them that above all, floating will be what saves your life. It also teaches them to look for possible ways out of the water, if they don't see steps, ladder, wall etc., they float to rest and then swim again, looking for a way out. So that's why you see them swimming and then floating. In today's test, they both had to float for over a minute. But at this point, it's effortless to them, they could float for quite a long time.
